Virginia Ann Atkinson Death & Obituary: Sad news has come to light as we report the passing of Ms. Virginia Ann Atkinson, affectionately known as “Miss Ginny,” who departed this world on August 2, 2024, at the age of 60. Born on November 12, 1963, Miss Ginny was a cherished member of the Benedictine Military School community and a dedicated employee of SAGE Dining Services.
A Commitment to Service
Miss Ginny was known for her tremendous work ethic and patience, qualities that shone brightly throughout her tenure at Benedictine. Her love for the Cadets was especially evident during the COVID-19 pandemic, when she and her SAGE teammates worked tirelessly to prepare meals for the Cadets. Whether meals were delivered to their homes or picked up on campus, Miss Ginny ensured that the students were well taken care of during a challenging time.
A Loving Presence
“Ginny will be greatly missed,” expressed Benedictine Headmaster Fr. Frank Ziemkiewicz, O.S.B. “We were so very fortunate to have her with us.” Her warm greetings, often accompanied by the phrase “Hey, darlin’,” could brighten anyone’s day, and her infectious smile was a source of comfort and joy for both students and staff alike.
Thoughts and Prayers
Our hearts go out to her mother, Ms. Thelma Greenway, who also worked alongside Miss Ginny at SAGE before her retirement. The bond they shared is a testament to the love and dedication that runs in their family. While the loss of Miss Ginny is profound, we find solace in the belief that she is now in heaven with Jesus. The thought of her being reunited with former BC employees, including Coach Ken Cooper, Coach Charlie Jung, and Mrs. Gayle Josey, offers comfort to those grieving her absence.
Celebration of Life
A Celebration of Life will be held at Baker McCullough Funeral Home (Garden City Chapel) on Monday, August 5, at 2 p.m. (2794 West U.S. Highway 80, Garden City, GA, 31408). All who knew and loved Miss Ginny are invited to come together to honor her memory and the incredible impact she made on those around her.
