Jennifer Dawn Death & Obituary: Jennifer Dawn (Steelman) Jackson of Perkins, Oklahoma, passed away on Sunday, August 4, 2024, in Stroud, Oklahoma, at the age of 48. Born on January 18, 1976, in Fort Smith, Arkansas, Jennifer, affectionately known as Jenny, was a devoted mother whose love for her children, Annalee Grace and Levi Conley Jackson, was boundless. They were the center of her universe.

Cherished Family and Friends

Jenny is survived by her parents, Curtis and Pamela Steelman of Reichert, Oklahoma; her sister, Amanda Dedmon and husband Mark of Haw Creek, Oklahoma; and her brother, Nathan Steelman of Reichert. She leaves behind her treasured nephew and nieces: Weston Ward and wife Tami of Lane, Oklahoma; Raegan Ward of Haw Creek; Montana Dedmon and Nathan Cole of Haw Creek; and Melody Dedmon and Justin Fuller of Conway, Arkansas. Jenny also shared a special bond with her friend, Dustin Webb of Stillwater, Oklahoma.

She is remembered by her aunts and uncles, including Betty Murphy, Racine and Charlotte Steelman, Jackie Steelman, Larry and Betty Steelman, Mackie Steelman, Gary and Rhonda Steelman, and Robin and Becky Steelman, as well as numerous cousins and a host of friends.

Jenny was known for her infectious smile and vibrant personality, with a remarkable ability to brighten any room she entered. An avid reader, Jenny found joy in curling up with a good book, often wrapped in a cozy quilt. She adored the outdoors, eagerly participating in trips to concerts, the lake, the beach, and, most importantly, any event that involved her children.

Education and Passion for Animals

A proud graduate of the class of 1994 from LeFlore High School, Jenny pursued her passion for zoology at Oklahoma State University in Stillwater, where she earned her degree. While she initially worked as a chemist, her true passion lay in her love for animals. Jenny had a particular fondness for elephants, which led to an unforgettable internship at the Tulsa Zoo’s elephant encounter—a role she cherished deeply.

Over the years, Jenny shared her life with various pets and critters, reflecting her nurturing spirit and love for all living things. She will be profoundly missed by all who knew her, leaving a void in their lives that cannot be filled.

A Lasting Legacy of Love

Services and Memorials

A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 10, 2024, at the Reichert Cemetery, with Mr. Tracy Loyd officiating. Burial will follow in the same location. Additionally, a memorial service will take place at Perkins Church of Christ in Perkins, Oklahoma, on Sunday, August 18, 2024, at 2:00 p.m., with Mr. Matt Mills officiating, under the direction of Dowden-Roberts Funeral Home of Heavener, Oklahoma.
