Dermot McLoughlin Death & Obituary: It is with profound sadness that the Castlepollard Hurling & Camogie Club announces the passing of Dermot McLoughlin of Glenview. Dermot, a devoted member of our community and a cherished supporter of Castlepollard GAA, passed away suddenly but peacefully on Sunday, August 11, 2024. He was surrounded by the loving care of his family and the dedicated staff at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Drogheda.
A Life Marked by Service and Dedication
Dermot McLoughlin came from a family deeply entrenched in the Castlepollard GAA tradition, and he carried forward this legacy with unwavering dedication. His selfless volunteering and support for local causes made him a pillar of the community. Dermot’s contributions extended beyond the hurling and camogie fields; he was known for his readiness to lend a hand whenever needed, embodying the true spirit of community service. His actions reflected his commitment to improving the lives of those around him, leaving an indelible mark on the Castlepollard community.
A Loving Family Man
Dermot was predeceased by his father, James (Jimmy), and is survived by his devoted wife Cathy and their much-cherished daughters Katie, Emma, and April. He also leaves behind his mother, Bernie, of Castlepollard, and his siblings Patrick, Michael, David, John, Danny, and Paul, as well as sisters Bernie-Ann, Imelda, and Catherine.
His extended family includes brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, and aunts Olive, Teresa (Tess), May, Kathy, Netty, and Betty, alongside many nieces, nephews, cousins, and a large circle of friends. Dermot’s sudden passing has left a deep void in the hearts of those who knew him, but his legacy of kindness and dedication will continue to be remembered and cherished by all.
Funeral Arrangements
Dermot will repose at his home, The Gate House, Glack, Ardee (A92 X6T7), on Friday, August 16, 2024, from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM. The house will be private thereafter. On Saturday, August 17, Dermot’s remains will be taken to St. Michael’s Church, Castlepollard, Co. Westmeath (via Collinstown), for Funeral Mass at 1:00 PM. Burial will follow in St. Michael’s Cemetery, Castlepollard.
