Born on March 5, 1943, in Kahoka, MO, Alene was the cherished daughter of Goldie Bell Mitchell. She pursued her education with determination, earning a Bachelor’s Degree from Quincy College in Quincy, IL. Alene’s passion for learning and commitment to her professional growth led her to a successful career in real estate, where she worked for Sutlive Real Estate in Keokuk.

A Devoted Wife and Mother

On July 23, 1978, Alene married the love of her life, Tim “T-Bone” Patterson, at All Saints Catholic Church in Keokuk. Their union was a testament to their deep love and mutual respect, and together they built a life filled with joy and devotion. Alene was a loving mother to her three children: Angela Fowler (Robert) of Oak Park, IL, Emilea McGlasson (Dan) of Keokuk, and Zack Patterson (Jennifer) of Carthage, IL. She took great pride in her role as a mother and grandmother, always placing her family at the center of her life.

A Life of Faith and Community Involvement

Alene’s faith was a cornerstone of her life. As a devoted member of All Saints Catholic Church, she was actively involved in church activities and passionately supported Catholic School events. Her commitment to her faith extended beyond the church walls, as she took on leadership roles in the BPW (Business and Professional Women) and the National Association of Realtors, demonstrating her dedication to her community.

Her home became a festive wonderland each Christmas, with up to fifty-seven Christmas trees adorning her space, a true reflection of her holiday spirit. Alene leaves behind a loving family, including her husband, Tim Patterson; her daughters, Angela Fowler and Emilea McGlasson; her son, Zack Patterson; nine grandchildren: Arlee, Tristin, Analise, Courtney, Nick, Angel, Madison, Annabella, and Maddax; and two great-granddaughters, Charlie and Riley, with a grandson, Fox, soon to arrive. She is also survived by her brother, Larry Mitchell, and her twin sister, Allie McDaniel, both of Kahoka, MO, along with many nieces and nephews. Alene was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Jack.

A Celebration of Life

A visitation will be held on Tuesday from 5-7 p.m. at the Vigen Memorial Home in Keokuk, IA, where family and friends are invited to gather and share their memories of Alene. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to PAW Animal Shelter in Ft. Madison, IA, reflecting Alene’s love for animals and her compassionate spirit.
