Briana Alice Death & Obituary: Briana Alice Spiker, age 68, of Morgantown, WV, passed away on August 9, 2024, at Bay Village Assisted Living in Annapolis, MD. Born on June 27, 1956, in Clarksburg, WV, Briana was the daughter of Bradford Z. Spiker and Alice L. (Williams) Spiker.

Briana’s life was distinguished by her academic achievements and commitment to social service. Graduating as valedictorian from Pennsboro High School, she went on to West Virginia University (WVU), where she earned a Bachelor of Social Work and a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology, graduating cum laude. She furthered her education with a Master of Social Work from WVU. Throughout her career, Briana dedicated herself to helping individuals thrive, working predominantly at West Virginia University.

Global Impact and Cultural Exchange

Briana’s influence extended beyond her professional work into international cultural exchange. As a 4-H IFYE in 1982, she lived with eleven different families in Japan, an experience that deeply enriched her life. She continued this global spirit by hosting international students in Morgantown and traveling extensively with her children, both domestically and internationally.

Survived By

Briana is survived by her three siblings: Michael I. Spiker of Ripley, WV, Brada E. Stotts of Evans, WV, and Dr. Mark A. Spiker of Pennsboro, WV. She leaves behind two children, Pete Deremer and his wife Stephanie of Annapolis, MD, and Kari Deremer of Wilmington, NC.

Funeral Services

Funeral services for Briana will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 25, 2024, at McCullough-Rogers Funeral Home in Pennsboro, WV. Interment will follow at the South Fork Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 24, 2024, at the funeral home.
